Riyadh: A high-level Pakistani Power Sector delegation, led by Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Pakistan’s Minister for Energy (Power Division), engaged in a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Energy Working Group in Riyadh, emphasizing enhanced bilateral cooperation in the power sector.
According to Press Information Department, the Pakistani delegation interacted with Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani, Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, as part of the Joint Working Group on Energy session. The discussions included Mohammed Alibrahim, Assistant Minister of Energy for Oil and Gas, and Majed Aloutaibi, Deputy Minister for Oil and Gas, focusing on global energy transition and Pakistan’s power sector reforms.
Minister Leghari outlined Pakistan’s reform agenda aiming to improve sector efficiency, governance, digital transformation, and financial sustainability. He highlighted opportunities for private sector participation and foreign investment in power transmission infrastructure and grid modernization, crucial for integrating clean energy resources.
The Pakistani delegation presented investment opportunities in the power transmission sector, emphasizing the national grid’s expansion. Discussions included Pakistan’s digitalization efforts, such as Smart Metering and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment, aimed at reducing losses and improving operational efficiency.
Minister Leghari invited the KSA Energy Working Group to Pakistan to explore reform initiatives and investment areas in transmission infrastructure and smart technologies, ensuring government support for Saudi investors.
Both sides committed to ongoing engagement and translating discussions into collaborations for sustainable growth, energy security, and regional cooperation, envisioning a resilient, technology-driven energy future for both nations.
