Pakistan and Kuwait Strengthen Economic Ties, Sign Key Agreements


Islamabad, In the recent 5th Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) between Kuwait and Pakistan, several significant agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and fostering mutual investment were signed. These agreements span various sectors, including industrial cooperation and engineering, marking a notable advancement in the two nations’ economic partnership.



According to Press Information Department, the session was led by Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Investment Board, Privatization, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, who also announced the appointment of a Commercial Counselor in Kuwait to facilitate business activities. The minister highlighted the initiation of a visa on arrival policy for GCC member countries soon, which is expected to bolster economic exchanges.



During his address, Minister Khan emphasized the potential for Kuwaiti investment in Pakistan’s diverse sectors such as IT, tourism, minerals, agriculture, food, textiles, and energy. He noted that these efforts are supported under the special facilities provided by the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE) for business engagements. The meeting also included discussions on veterinary services, healthcare professionals, and other workforce engagements from Pakistan to Kuwait.



Additionally, Pakistan and Kuwait agreed to encourage the export of poultry and dairy products during a consultative meeting with Kuwait’s prominent Livestock Organization “Al Muashi”. Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Omar Saud Al-Omar, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the 5th JMC and assured continued support from Kuwait.



The visit also included strategic discussions with other regions, as Minister Khan met with business leaders in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to discuss potential business-to-business activities and the establishment of a goods terminal near the Tajikistan border, aimed at boosting trade and investment.
