Pakistan and Kazakhstan to Open State Media Offices in Each Other’s Countries

Islamabad, Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reached an agreement to establish offices of their respective state media organizations in each other’s countries. The agreement was finalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, in Islamabad. According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in media and cultural exchanges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Solangi emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s relationship with Kazakhstan, advocating for increased people-to-people contacts and cultural delegation exchanges. He highlighted the need for enhanced cooperation between state media organizations, citing Radio Pakistan and PTV as vital sources of information. The meeting also discussed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the respective Ministries of Information of Pakistan and Kazakhstan. A Zoom meeting between the Information Ministers of the two countries is planned to facilitate this agreement.

Additionally, Minister Solangi mentioned a team from Lahore is set to leave for Kazakhstan for film shooting, marking a significant step in promoting cultural ties. He also recognized Pakistan’s deep, historical, and cultural connections with members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the shared interests and objectives.

The Kazakh Ambassador extended an invitation to Minister Solangi to visit Kazakhstan for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. He expressed the Kazakh President’s fondness for Pakistan and its people, noting the President’s planned visit to Pakistan next year, which is anticipated to significantly boost trade relations. The Ambassador also acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic importance for accessing warm waters in the Middle East and commended Sialkot for its renowned manufacturing of footballs and surgical instruments. The Ambassador concluded by expressing a desire to strengthen cooperation between the state media of both countries.
