Islamabad: In a high-level bilateral meeting held today, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, met with the visiting Iranian Minister for Transport, Farzaneh Sadegh, to discuss regional connectivity, trade enhancement, and bilateral cooperation.
According to Press Information Department, the Pakistani delegation also included Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, and Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar. During the discussions, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed pleasure over the establishment of peace in the region and noted that future road and rail links between Pakistan and Iran will be further strengthened. He emphasized that robust land connectivity is vital to unlocking trade opportunities for both nations.
To streamline bilateral logistics, both delegations reviewed proposals and agreed to activate the Pakistan-Iran Joint Transport Committee. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan assured the visiting delegation that transport-related bottlenecks between the two countries would be resolved on a priority basis.
Iranian Transport Minister Farzaneh Sadegh expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s role in halting regional conflicts and facilitating the peace agreement. “We highly value the support and cooperation of our Pakistani brothers,” Minister Sadegh stated. The Iranian Minister also raised challenges regarding the clearance of trucks and containers at the border, and senior officials from both sides agreed to implement joint measures to resolve issues at the Pakistan-Iran border.
