Pakistan and Ghana Commit to Strengthening Military Cooperation


RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Ghana have pledged to deepen their military-to-military cooperation, focusing on joint training, counter-terrorism efforts, and defence production. This commitment was made during a meeting between Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Ghana, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Ghanaian military leader was honored with a Guard of Honour by a Tri-Services contingent upon his arrival. The discussions between the two military chiefs revolved around topics of mutual interest, regional security, and enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides expressed their determination to bolster military relations, recognizing the significance of collaboration in maintaining regional stability.



The Ghanaian delegation’s visit also included meetings with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, in Islamabad. Abdul Razak Osman, National Security Coordinator of Ghana, also participated in these discussions. Lieutenant General Agyapong lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their role in promoting stability in the region.
