PARIS: Pakistan and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation and dialogue, alongside a joint effort to promote multilateralism. This was articulated during the Pakistan-France Consultations on Multilateral Affairs held in Paris.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions were led by Ambassador Nabeel Munir, Special Secretary (United Nations) from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nathalie Broadhurst, Director for the United Nations, International Organisations, Human Rights, and Francophonie from France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on key issues such as the UN80 initiative, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and Financing for Development, reiterating their shared commitment to multilateralism and the principles outlined in the Charter of the United Nations.
The consultations also included discussions on recent regional and international developments, with both countries agreeing to enhance coordination in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, on issues related to peace and security. The next round of Pakistan-France Consultations on Multilateral Affairs is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on dates that are yet to be mutually agreed upon.
