Pakistan and Egypt Discuss Enhanced Defence Cooperation

Islamabad, The Minister for Defence of Pakistan, Lt Gen (Retd) Anwar Ali Hyder, met with the Egyptian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdel Hamid Hasan, to discuss strengthening defence relations and joint ventures between the two countries.

According to Press Information Department, during the meeting at the Minister’s office in Rawalpindi, Lt Gen Hyder emphasized the long-standing and cordial historical ties between Pakistan and Egypt. He highlighted the significance of the military relations that have developed over the years and proposed the idea of combining strengths for joint ventures and cooperation in the defence industry.

The Defence Minister noted that Egypt and Pakistan, sharing common strategic interests and facing similar challenges, have substantial potential for growth in various fields. This includes a shared aspiration for peace and development. The meeting underscored the importance of deepening bilateral relations, particularly in defence and security sectors.

The Egyptian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Minister and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan on matters of mutual interest, including defence. This meeting signifies a continued effort from both nations to enhance their strategic partnership and collaborate more closely on defence and security initiatives.
