Pakistan and Britain Enhance Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism and Combatting Human Trafficking


Islamabad, Pakistan and Britain have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts and the prevention of human trafficking. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Federal Secretary for Interior, Aftab Akbar Durrani, and the 2nd Permanent Secretary of the British Home Office, Simon Ridley, in Islamabad.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Both sides also discussed measures to advance cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries. Secretary Durrani highlighted Pakistan’s support in facilitating the transfer of Afghan refugees to Britain and noted that the overstay fee for Afghan refugees had recently been reduced from $800 to $400. The meeting also included a review of the progress made on extradition agreements between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
