ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus have expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation in agriculture, food security, trade, and investment. The development came during a meeting held in Islamabad between Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Belarus’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Yakovchits Aleksander.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting explored new avenues for strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in agricultural technology and phytosanitary cooperation. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to developing mutually beneficial partnerships in various sectors, including aquaculture, seed trade, and agricultural machinery.

Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized the need to translate this cooperation into concrete outcomes that would benefit businesses, farmers, investors, and technical experts. He highlighted Pakistan’s eagerness to expand engagement across emerging areas of agriculture and food security.

Opportunities for collaboration in fish farming were also discussed, with both sides agreeing on the exchange of knowledge, technology, and best practices. Additionally, Pakistan proposed the establishment of a universal agricultural machinery testing facility at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, seeking financial and technical support from Belarus for this initiative.
