New York: Pakistan and Austria have engaged in discussions concerning regional and international developments, including the Middle East situation, during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting involved Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, and Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Austria’s Minister for European and International Affairs.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Austria, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, economic relations, education, and people-to-people ties. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the significance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful dispute resolution aligned with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

The Austrian Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability, emphasizing the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to address regional and global challenges. The two sides agreed to maintain close engagement on matters of mutual interest, and the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of fully implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties involved.
