Islamabad: Pakistan and eleven other nations have jointly condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in northwestern Syria. The coalition of countries, which includes Türkiye, Algeria, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia, issued a statement denouncing the attacks as a breach of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to Radio Pakistan, the joint statement by the Foreign Ministers of these countries expressed alarm over the ongoing assaults on Syrian territory and infrastructure. The statement highlighted concerns that such actions could disrupt Syria’s efforts to restore security and rebuild its national institutions, while also addressing the humanitarian repercussions of prolonged conflict.
The Foreign Ministers warned that Israel’s actions could escalate regional tensions and undermine peace and stability. They urged the international community to adopt a clear stance against the aggression and to take steps aligned with international law to halt these violations.
The statement emphasized the importance of adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and called for Israeli forces to withdraw from occupied areas. The coalition stressed the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and independence to maintain regional stability.
