Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkiye are evolving into a comprehensive economic partnership. The statement came during a meeting with a delegation from the Constitutional Court of Turkiye, led by its President, Kadir Ozkaya, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the potential benefits that both nations can gain from each other’s experiences in ensuring access to justice for citizens. He highlighted a recent Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Turkish delegation’s visit as a foundational step toward this objective.
The Prime Minister noted the substantial opportunities for both countries to exchange experiences, particularly in employing digital technology for expedited justice delivery. He also mentioned the mutual advantages in collaborating on issues like climate change, counter-terrorism, immigration laws, and their enforcement.
Kadir Ozkaya, President of the Turkish Constitutional Court, expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended in Pakistan, noting the deep-rooted affection Turks have for Pakistan. He mentioned the readiness of the 64-year-old Constitutional Court of Turkiye to initiate a pilot project with Pakistan, aimed at sharing its extensive experience.
The meeting was attended by judges of the Turkish Constitutional Court, including Ridvan Gulec and Recai Akyel, as well as the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Naziroglu. Pakistani officials present included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attorney General Mansoor Awan, Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
