Pak-Iran Border Remains Open for LPG Trade Amid Reports of Disruption

Islamabad: A recent news report suggesting that trade at the Pak-Iran border has come to a halt, leading to LPG shortages, has been refuted by customs authorities. Contrary to the report, official data indicates uninterrupted LPG shipments through the Gabd-Rimdan border crossing, with 748 Goods Declarations and 17,353 metric tons of LPG cleared in early June.

According to Press Information Department, the assertions of halted trade and LPG shortages are inaccurate. The customs authorities have implemented improved clearance procedures in collaboration with local chambers of commerce, ensuring compliance and preventing revenue loss. These measures, designed to streamline the import process, have reportedly increased revenue collection and facilitated legitimate trade. Despite some traders abandoning consignments, the border operations remain functional, with essential goods like LPG continuing to move smoothly.
