Islamabad: Pakistan has voiced strong opposition to the recent demolition of a century-old mosque in Saharanpur, India, calling the event a manifestation of what it describes as a broader campaign against Islamic heritage in the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, Sajjad Haider Khan, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, criticized the demolition, labeling it a continuation of Islamophobic and Hindutva-driven efforts aimed at erasing significant Islamic sites. Khan drew parallels to the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid, citing it as a symbol of religious intolerance and prejudice.

Khan urged the international community to address the persecution of Muslims in India and to take action against the destruction of their places of worship. He emphasized the need for Indian authorities to be held accountable for actions that undermine the religious freedoms and cultural heritage of minorities, particularly Muslims.
