Jammu, October 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, over 50 Sarpanchs and Panchs have resigned en masse in two blocks of Ramban district over various issues, officials said on Saturday.
They have resigned for lack of promised empowerment, unnecessary interference and their side-lining by the authorities during the ongoing public outreach programme of the Indian ministers. Amid the en mass resignation by rural civic body representatives, Peoples Democratic Party criticized the BJP government, saying the cosmetic normalcy being projected in the territory stands punctured.
About 50 sarpanchs and panchs, belonging to Banihal and Ramsu blocks, submitted their resignation en-mass to concerned Block Development Council chairpersons on Friday after an emergency meeting, the officials said. Sarpanchs Ghulam Rasool Mattoo, Tanveer Ahmad Katoch and Mohammad Rafiq Khan said that the promises made to them by the authorities have only remained on the papers.
