Lahore: The National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has announced the successful completion of nine major power transmission projects over the past six months. The key achievements, which have significantly bolstered power transmission capacity from the southern to northern regions, include the completion of two new grid stations and the upgradation of six autotransformers.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the new grid stations, 500kV Lahore North and 220kV Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, have enhanced the electricity supply to a Special Economic Zone in Punjab. Additionally, the upgrades at grid stations in Nokhar, Okara, Yousafwala, and Hyderabad have increased system capacity and reduced load shedding. The interconnection of the Ghazi Barotha-Gatti transmission line with the 500kV Allama Iqbal Industrial City grid station in Faisalabad has also been completed.
Further projects include the completion of the Nowshera Transmission Line and the 55-kilometer-long 220kV Faisalabad West-Lalian transmission line, both ready for energization. Managing Director Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik, who took office in November 2025, has prioritized these developments, conducting field visits in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure progress.
Engr. Malik praised NGC teams for their effective coordination and adherence to safety standards, urging continued focus on completing ongoing projects like the 765 kV grid stations at Islamabad West and Mansehra and the Dasu transmission line. His directive emphasized maintaining the pace and dedication to fortify Pakistan’s transmission system through collaboration and professional excellence.
