New Zealand Prime Minister Commends Pakistan’s Role in Middle East Peace Efforts


Wellington: New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has expressed appreciation for Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to mediate peace between Iran and the United States, aiming to resolve ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Luxon’s remarks came during an address to the Pakistani community in New Zealand as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.



According to Radio Pakistan, Luxon acknowledged the significant impact of the Middle East conflict, noting its repercussions both domestically and internationally. He recalled a conversation with Prime Minister Sharif three months prior, in which he extended his gratitude for Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting regional stability.



In discussing the bilateral relations between New Zealand and Pakistan, Luxon highlighted the strong ties rooted in their shared Commonwealth history and active collaboration in international and regional platforms such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the ASEAN Regional Forum.



Luxon also commended the Pakistani community in New Zealand, emphasizing their contributions to the nation’s economic, social, and cultural advancement. He noted that approximately 8,100 Pakistanis residing in New Zealand have enriched the country through their dedication and achievements, portraying their immigrant journey as an inspirational narrative.



In his address, Luxon encouraged the Pakistani community to take pride in their contributions, underscoring the positive impact of their presence in New Zealand.
