National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Champions Consensus on Energy Crisis Solutions in Islamabad Conference


Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the importance of using Parliament as a platform to deliberate and find solutions to Pakistan’s persistent energy issues, including high electricity costs and energy distribution challenges. Speaking at the “Parliamentary Consultation on Strategic Options for Electricity Distribution Systems in Pakistan,” Sadiq highlighted the need for consensus across political parties to address these challenges effectively. He also underscored his commitment to optimizing energy costs for end-users and promoting sustainable energy solutions.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq addressed the longstanding issues plaguing Pakistan’s energy sector, noting successes in combating load shedding but acknowledging that substantial work remains to rationalize the sector’s economics. He pointed out that the high cost of electricity is a significant hurdle that must be overcome, not just in Pakistan but globally. The conference served as a platform for discussing strategic options to improve the country’s electricity distribution systems.



During his speech, Sadiq also discussed his initiatives within the National Assembly to ensure optimal staffing and promote sustainable practices, proudly referencing the achievement of making Pakistan’s parliament the first “Green Parliament” in the region. His efforts extend to advocating for the expansion of renewable energy sources to tackle energy issues more effectively.



In her address, MNA Dr. Nafeesa Shah echoed the urgency of resolving energy issues, highlighting their impact on economic growth and the daily lives of Pakistanis.
