Almaty: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reached an agreement to establish the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Research Centre at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The initiative aims to bolster collaboration in higher education, scientific research, and innovation between the two nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the agreement was formalized during a meeting in Almaty between Wajiha Qamar, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, and Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Management Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The intended research centre will act as a catalyst for joint research efforts, academic exchanges, and innovation projects, fostering stronger links between the universities of Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Wajiha Qamar underscored Pakistan’s advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, information technology, digital innovation, and emerging technologies. She extended an invitation to the university’s leadership and faculty to visit Pakistan to explore potential partnerships with local institutions.

Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing that the centre would enhance academic mobility, facilitate joint research, and promote long-term scientific cooperation between the two countries. Both parties also concurred on the need to develop a roadmap for the phased implementation of the centre, reaffirming their dedication to advancing educational ties, research excellence, and innovation-driven cooperation.
