Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Mr. Mikko Keto, the Global CEO of FLSmidth, and H.E. Mr. Jakob Linulf, Ambassador of Denmark, to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mining and cement sectors. The meeting focused on Pakistan’s shift towards an export-led growth model, comprehensive reforms, and the creation of a business-friendly environment to facilitate private sector-led growth.
According to Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted the government’s efforts in restructuring the energy and power sectors, privatization, and tax system reforms. Senator Aurangzeb expressed the government’s commitment to overcoming resistance from traditional sectors and emphasized the state’s role in ensuring maximum facilitation for private sector initiatives. Mr. Keto appreciated the government’s support and outlined FLSmidth’s increasing investments in the local mining industry, which have contributed to local value addition, higher tax contributions, and job creation. He expressed a keen interest in expanding these investments through local partnerships.
The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to enhancing economic relations between Pakistan and Denmark, focusing on the significant growth potential in the mining and cement industries.
