Almaty: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to establish the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Research Centre at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, aiming to enhance academic and scientific cooperation between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, the agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, and the Chairman of the Management Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev. The Research Centre, to be established under a Memorandum of Cooperation, will serve as a platform for promoting collaborative research, academic exchanges, and innovation between universities in Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

Ms. Qamar emphasized the importance of strengthened academic partnerships in addressing regional and global challenges through knowledge and innovation. She highlighted the advancements of Pakistani universities in fields such as artificial intelligence and digital innovation, expressing confidence that these would provide opportunities for collaboration with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Professor Tuimebayev welcomed the initiative, noting the University’s ongoing engagement with Pakistani institutions. He expressed optimism that the Research Centre would foster long-term scientific cooperation and strengthen academic ties. Both parties agreed to develop a comprehensive roadmap for implementing the proposed initiatives, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing higher education and research excellence.
