LAHORE: Drainage and cleaning operations are in progress across 41 districts of Punjab as heavy monsoon rains continue to affect the region. Key areas in cities such as Lahore, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad have seen swift action to clear rainwater and restore normal traffic flow, according to local authorities.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, various departments including the Local Government Department, Water and Sanitation Agencies (WASA), Suthra Punjab, and district administrations are actively engaged in the operations. In Lahore, critical roads like MA Jinnah Road and Ravi Road have been cleared, allowing traffic to resume smoothly.

In Gujranwala, areas such as Lala Zar Colony, Jinnah Road, and Civil Lines Shamsi Underpass have been successfully reopened to traffic after efforts to remove water accumulation. Hafizabad has also completed operations on multiple roads, including DHQ Road and Kutchery Road.

In Sargodha, drainage operations have concluded in residential areas and marketplaces, with cleaning efforts now underway. Similarly, roads in Sambrial and Pasrur in Sialkot district have been cleared, and traffic is reported to be moving normally.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is overseeing the operations throughout the affected districts, ensuring that efforts are coordinated and effective.
