ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Housing and Works convened at the Parliament House to review the Islamabad Capital Territory Condominium (Ownership and Management) Bill, 2026. The meeting, led by Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, focused on establishing a legal framework for land ownership in high-rise developments and improving housing finance access for low- and middle-income groups.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Committee examined the Bill’s provisions, particularly Section 10, which mandates insurance. The Chairman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, raised concerns about conventional insurance practices, citing their inconsistency with Islamic teachings and constitutional principles. Despite his dissent, the Committee recommended the Bill for passage by the National Assembly. The meeting included participation from various committee members and officials from the Ministry of Housing and Works and the Ministry of Law and Justice.
