Rawalpindi, Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced a series of violent encounters with terrorists that resulted in casualties on both sides, including the death of soldiers and terrorists.
According to Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), starting with an intelligence-based operation in the area of Rori, Dera Ismail Khan District, where a known suicide bomber from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed and two others were injured. The eliminated terrorist was identified as Usama, reportedly planning a high-profile attack. A subsequent operation in the Lakki Marwat District resulted in the death of another terrorist and the destruction of terrorist hides, with an exchange of fire leading to the martyrdom of two soldiers, Naik Zafar Iqbal and Sepoy Haji Jan. In a separate incident, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion in the Kulachi area caused the death of Havildar Shahid Iqbal.
The ISPR release emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing to neutralize any remaining terrorist threat in the region, and reiterated the security forces’ commitment to extinguishing the threat of terrorism in Pakistan.
