Islamabad: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination in Islamabad, marking a collaboration between Sheikh Zayed Institute and ChildLife Foundation to establish a modern 10-bed Children’s Emergency Unit at Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore. The signing ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal and Federal Secretary Health Aslam Ghauri.

According to Press Information Department, the MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Ayesha Humayun Sheikh, Chairperson and Dean of the Sheikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute Lahore, and Dr. Ahsan Rabbani, Chief Executive Officer of ChildLife Foundation. The unit aims to provide timely and effective emergency medical care for children.

Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal highlighted the importance of establishing modern centers to reduce child mortality rates in Pakistan. He emphasized that the government’s top priority is children’s health and that modernizing the emergency care system is essential. The partnership between ChildLife Foundation and Sheikh Zayed Institute is expected to significantly improve pediatric emergency healthcare.

Mustafa Kamal stated that public-private partnerships, such as the one with ChildLife Foundation, are vital to achieving improvements in the healthcare sector. The government is committed to enhancing the performance of public-sector hospitals and ensuring the provision of modern healthcare facilities.

The Federal Minister expressed optimism that the new partnership would strengthen pediatric emergency services and improve health outcomes for children across the country.
