Islamabad: A new initiative aimed at enhancing cultural exchange between Pakistan and China was inaugurated today with the opening of the Chinese Language & Chinese Culture Experience Course. Federal Minister for National Heritage & Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, attended the ceremony at the Department of Archaeology & Museums, highlighting the significance of people-to-people contact in the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Khichi underscored the importance of language as a means of understanding a country’s cultural and national character. He noted that the course would offer participants an opportunity to engage with Chinese language and culture, thereby fostering deeper connections between Pakistani and Chinese youth. The program includes lessons in basic Chinese greetings and everyday expressions, as well as immersive experiences in calligraphy and traditional Chinese customs.

The Embassy of China in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology & Museums, orchestrated the course, with support from the Pakistan-China Cultural and Economic Promotion Association. Cultural Counsellor Mr. Chen Peng emphasized China’s commitment to cultural heritage preservation and highlighted ongoing cooperation in archaeology and cultural protection.

The course, running from August 10 to 13, 2026, involves six sessions and brings together approximately 50 participants. It seeks to establish a long-term platform for cultural exchange while promoting mutual understanding and respect. The event concluded with the exchange of commemorative plaques, symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two countries.
