Karachi: In a significant development for the infrastructure of Malir district, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab laid the foundation stone for an ambitious eight-kilometer, four-track road project. The initiative, with an estimated cost of Rs 225 million, aims to address long-standing infrastructural challenges in the area and is expected to be completed within six months.

The project, unveiled over the weekend in Memon Goth, reflects the city’s commitment to improving transport facilities. Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of the initiative in alleviating local issues, noting the collaborative effort involving the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Khan Tesori. The Governor had previously reached out to the Prime Minister with a Rs 100 billion funding request to accelerate development across Karachi.

Accompanying Mayor Wahab were Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, National Assembly member Abdul Hakeem Baloch, and Pakistan Peoples Party officials. Mayor Wahab highlighted ongoing development efforts under the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality, driven by the leadership’s focus on resource optimization.

In addition to the road project, Mayor Wahab addressed other city concerns, including the eradication of wall chalking and the provision of solar panels for electricity supply in Sindh. The initiative to solarize Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation’s pumping stations was also announced, aimed at mitigating electricity supply issues.

The Mayor reaffirmed the city’s stance against encroachments, promising strict legal actions. He also discussed the importance of addressing recent traffic incidents and promoting a positive resolution by political leaders.

As Karachi continues to evolve, Mayor Wahab’s efforts underline the city’s broader mission to enhance infrastructure while maintaining civic order and addressing residents’ needs.
