Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, has announced the long-awaited promotion of 170 personnel from the Karachi Port Security Force, resolving a 24-year stagnation issue. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Minister Chaudhry, focusing on the port’s security workforce.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting featured Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Chairman Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, who outlined measures to address the delay in promotions. Minister Chaudhry praised the efforts of the KPT’s new leadership in expediting the process and meeting all necessary procedural requirements.
Minister Chaudhry emphasized the importance of institutionalizing transparent and timely promotions based on tenure and performance. He highlighted the significance of strong human resource practices in enhancing morale and efficiency at critical national institutions.
Rear Admiral Ahmed explained that procedural complexities had caused the delays, but assured that all formalities had now been completed according to regulations. He expressed confidence that the promotions would boost personnel morale and improve port security operations.
Minister Chaudhry further acknowledged the vital role of the Karachi Port Security Force in protecting one of Pakistan’s busiest maritime gateways. He expressed optimism that resolving such service-related issues would enhance workforce motivation and strengthen overall institutional performance.
