Majority of Pakistanis Believe Hard Work Influences Destiny, Survey Finds


Karachi: In a recent survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 89% of Pakistanis expressed the belief that hard work can significantly influence their destiny. The survey highlights a strong conviction among the population in the potential of personal effort to shape life outcomes.



According to Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, a nationally representative sample of adult Pakistanis was asked whether they believe hard work can change their destiny. The results show that 89% affirmed this belief, while 10% disagreed, and a mere 1% were uncertain. The findings reveal a widespread belief in the power of hard work, with variations observed across different demographics. Notably, 90% of women and 97% of individuals aged 40 to 49 reported a strong conviction in the impact of hard work on destiny.



The survey, conducted between January 15 and February 3, 2026, utilized telephonic interviews with 780 respondents from urban and rural areas across all four provinces of Pakistan. The study was carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the local affiliate of Gallup International, with an estimated margin of error of ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level. The results provide insight into the cultural attitudes towards personal agency and the perceived role of effort in shaping one’s future.
