ISLAMABAD: Disbursements under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will transition to digital wallets starting in July, as announced by Chairperson Rubina Khalid. The move aims to enhance efficiency in the distribution of funds to beneficiaries.
According to Radio Pakistan, Chairperson Khalid, at a news conference, highlighted that over eight million women have already received free mobile SIMs, which will facilitate the new digital payment system. She emphasized that transparency and accountability remain paramount for BISP, with a re-certification system introduced to ensure only eligible individuals receive benefits.
Khalid noted international recognition of BISP, which stands as Pakistan’s largest social protection initiative. She stated that over ten million families currently benefit from the Kafalat Program, while twelve million children are recipients of scholarships under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif initiative.
