RIYADH: Lieutenant General retired Nauman Mahmood has been appointed as the first Secretary General of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, the government announced. In his new role, Mahmood will oversee the General Secretariat of the Alliance, which is set to be established in Riyadh.
According to Radio Pakistan, Mahmood’s appointment marks a significant step in the operationalization of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, an initiative aimed at fostering cooperation and coordination among member states in the region. As Secretary General, Mahmood will be responsible for leading and managing the strategic objectives of the Alliance, focusing on defense collaboration.
