Islamabad: Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday to review the current legal and regulatory framework for the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and explore new options for reform.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting was attended by key government officials, including Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Lt. (Retd.) Sohail Ashraf, and others. Discussions focused on the need for a transparent and effective regulatory system for the real estate sector in the capital city.

The participants reviewed various aspects of the existing RERA framework and agreed on further consultations for legislative reform. A Sub-Committee was established, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law and Justice, and the CDA, tasked with examining legal options and submitting a report within 20 days.

Senator Tarar emphasized the importance of a regulatory system that protects citizens’ property rights and enhances public confidence. The meeting also addressed the need for digitizing land records as part of the review process. Further consultations with stakeholders are planned to develop a comprehensive legal framework.
