Srinagar: The authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have acquired substantial land in the name of industrial development. Official reports state that 14,956 kanal and 15 marla of land have been occupied in Jammu, while 6,745 kanal and 19 marla have been occupied in the Kashmir Valley for the establishment of Industrial Estates.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhry, in response to a query from Ali Mohammad Dar, revealed these figures in a recent session. Chaudhry also disclosed plans for further expansion, with intents placed for an additional 9,661.05 kanal in Jammu and 5,000.13 kanal in Kashmir to accommodate future industrial growth.
The focus of the J and K Industrial Policy 2021-30 includes Education and Skill Development, which are identified as priority investment areas. These sectors are included in the Service Sector Positive List under the New Central Sector Scheme 2021, as issued by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
