Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission and Blue Vans Sign MoU to Promote Access to Information

Islamabad, A significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission and Blue Vans, focusing on enhancing public awareness about the Access to Information Act, particularly among marginalized groups including women, transgenders, and minorities.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the MoU was signed by Ms. Farah Hamid Khan, Chief Information Commissioner of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission, and Mr. Qamar Naseem, Director of Blue Vans. The signing ceremony was attended by key members from both organizations, including Anisur Rehman, Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission, and other officials.

The agreement aims to educate the public in specific districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about the Access to Information Act through various initiatives. These include conducting awareness seminars, trainings, and the installation of awareness banners, along with disseminating information through social media platforms. Blue Vans will also assist the commission in organizing meetings with other partners to extend the reach of information access across the province.

The collaboration between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission and Blue Vans is expected to facilitate a free flow of information, leading to more transparent and accountable governance in the province. This partnership is seen as a crucial step towards empowering the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by ensuring their right to information, especially for those in marginalized and neglected sectors of society.
