Srinagar, The family of slain Kashmiri policeman Ghulam Mohammad Dar has made a shocking allegation against the Indian army, claiming that he was shot dead at point-blank range by army personnel in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This contradicts the official Indian police narrative which stated that Dar was killed by mujahideen.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place on October 31 in Wailoo village, Tangmarg area, Baramulla district. Dar’s daughter, Uzma Gul, recalled hearing gunshots and then discovering her father lying in a pool of blood outside their home. Despite initial reports by Indian police claiming the involvement of militants and announcing a cordon to arrest the assailants, Dar’s family strongly refutes these claims.
Uzma stated that the fatal shots were fired from an army vehicle passing by their house, and not by militants. She described how the vehicle did not stop despite the gunshots, instead speeding away from the scene. Dar, who had been serving in the police department for twenty-five years and was known locally as Gul Soob, was remembered as a good-humored, amiable, and religious man, often leading Friday prayers in the village.
Masooda, Dar’s wife, described his final moments as he muttered incoherently, wounded by the gunfire. The family is now left grieving, with Dar leaving behind his wife and seven daughters. They reside in a double-storey house still under construction, located along the roadside.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the targeting of Kashmiri police personnel by the Indian army, contradicting official narratives and fueling tensions in the region.
