Karachi Police Hospital to Enhance Healthcare with New Information System

Karachi, The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Riffat Mukhtar Raja, has announced significant improvements to healthcare services at the Sindh Police Hospital in Karachi, including the implementation of the Health Management Information System (HMIS).

According to Sindh Police, during a follow-up visit to the hospital, IG Riffat Mukhtar Raja emphasized the need for the HMIS to ensure efficient and swift medical treatment. The system will handle various aspects of patient care, including registration in OPD, pathology, radiology, and pharmacy services. It will also enable the uploading of patient tests, diagnoses, and records onto a centralized system, facilitating better monitoring of doctors’ and paramedical staff’s performance.

Additionally, IG Riffat Mukhtar Raja announced the commencement of medical camps at various Police Lines in the first week of December. These camps aim to provide healthcare facilities to ailing police personnel and their families right at their doorsteps. He also revealed plans to affiliate the 50-bedded Police Hospital Garden with a government medical college, ensuring access to top medical specialists and practitioners.

A comprehensive awareness campaign about hospital facilities, diseases, and precautions will be conducted in police residential areas. To combat malaria and dengue outbreaks, a fumigation campaign in all police residential areas was also directed.

To further assist ailing police personnel, a dedicated bus transport service from Police Lines to the Police Hospital will be initiated. The IG Police also instructed the provision of high-quality and upgraded machinery for the hospital and immediate renovation and decoration works. He suggested enlisting a private company’s services for machinery maintenance to ensure timely repairs.

In a forward-thinking move, a mechanism involving a board of directors, including philanthropists, was ordered to be established to enhance the hospital’s administrative affairs. The visit was also attended by the Additional IG Welfare and Finance, DIG Traffic Karachi, and AIG Welfare Sindh. This initiative represents a significant step in improving healthcare services for police personnel and their families in Karachi.
