Islamabad: Japan has expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating talks between the United States and Iran, which have led to a ceasefire. The commendation was conveyed during a phone conversation between Japan’s Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Takaichi conveyed Japan’s full support for the peace process, highlighting its significance in fostering regional stability and ensuring global energy security. The discussion took place against the backdrop of the recently held Islamabad Talks, which saw US and Iranian delegations engage in extensive discussions hosted by Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif, expressing gratitude to the Japanese Prime Minister for her supportive stance, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining the ceasefire. He acknowledged the efforts of both US and Iranian delegations and reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to the peace process. Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif expressed a desire to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan, a sentiment reciprocated by Prime Minister Takaichi. The leaders agreed to sustain close coordination in their diplomatic endeavors.
