Islamabad: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has directed the Ministry’s Foreign Trade Wings to intensify efforts in expanding Pakistan’s export markets. In an internal meeting, Khan reviewed the nation’s export performance and bilateral trade engagements, aiming to capitalize on recent growth in emerging markets.

According to Press Information Department, Khan expressed satisfaction with the current export growth and emphasized the need for market diversification, enhancing business-to-business connections, and engaging more closely with overseas trade missions. He has urged the identification of new opportunities for exporting products such as rice, textiles, agricultural goods, pharmaceuticals, processed food, light engineering goods, and services.

Khan instructed the Foreign Trade Wings to create country-specific action plans that address priority products, market-access barriers, logistics and banking challenges, potential buyers, and delayed institutional engagements. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that trade agreements offer balanced and commercially meaningful benefits to Pakistan and called for regular evaluation of existing arrangements. He also stressed the need to expedite pending Joint Trade Committee and Joint Working Group meetings.

Furthermore, Khan called for increased coordination between the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseas missions, chambers of commerce, and trade associations. This coordination aims to translate diplomatic engagements into tangible export and investment outcomes. “Pakistan’s exporters have demonstrated strong potential in both traditional and emerging markets. Our focus must be on removing barriers, diversifying exports, and converting every trade engagement into measurable economic gains,” Khan stated.
