Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has escalated its enforcement campaign against lane discipline violations, resulting in legal action against more than 5,000 drivers in the past week. This initiative, directed by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aims to uphold traffic laws, enhance road safety, and prevent accidents in the federal capital.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, alongside the enforcement actions, the ITP’s Education Wing has reached over 100,000 citizens through a public awareness campaign highlighting the importance of lane discipline and compliance with traffic regulations. This campaign was conducted across major roads, educational institutions, and public places.
In a bid to further boost public awareness, the ITP organized an Awareness Walk from Jinnah Avenue to Express Chowk, attended by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan, Director ITP FM Ayesha Jamil, and various community members. Participants committed to fostering adherence to traffic laws.
CTO Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan addressed the media, underscoring that violations such as lane discipline breaches, wrong-way driving, and riding without helmets pose significant threats to road safety. Khan affirmed the ITP’s commitment to taking legal action against such violations to protect citizens’ lives and property.
Kainat Azhar Khan also noted that the ITP’s road safety workshops and educational activities aim to instill a culture of responsible driving. She urged citizens to adhere to lane discipline, use helmets and seat belts, and avoid illegal parking to contribute to a safer traffic environment. Khan appealed for public cooperation with law enforcement to make Islamabad a safer city.
