Islamabad Traffic Police Penalizes Over 66,000 Violators in Enforcement Drive

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police has taken legal action against 66,089 traffic violators as part of a special enforcement drive, following directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. This initiative, aimed at enhancing road safety, resulted in the impoundment of 6,562 motorcycles and 3,285 vehicles, alongside the registration of 379 FIRs for serious infractions.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the comprehensive campaign involved addressing various traffic violations, including 7,625 instances of lane violations, 4,392 cases of wrong-way driving, and an equal number of motorcyclists riding without helmets. Legal measures were also taken against 7,150 non-standard number plates, 10,846 cases of illegal parking, and 5,105 incidents of overloading.

Additionally, the Islamabad Traffic Police’s Education Wing conducted 111 road safety workshops and awareness activities across government and private locations, educating over 94,000 citizens on traffic laws and safe driving. Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan urged the public to adhere to traffic regulations, emphasizing the potential risks of driving without a valid license and the ongoing commitment to preventing endangerment of public safety. The campaign aims to establish a disciplined traffic system and ensure a secure traveling environment.
