Deputy Prime Minister Dar Stresses Peaceful Resolution of Global Disputes


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized the importance of resolving international disputes peacefully, advocating for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions as a pathway to sustainable global peace. This was highlighted during his meeting with Michelle Bachelet Jeria, a candidate for the position of UN Secretary General, who visited him in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, Dar specifically highlighted the unresolved issues of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine as critical areas requiring attention. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the United Nations Charter’s objectives and principles, along with respect for international law and treaties. Stressing the essential role of the UN in promoting global development, he noted that the organization must remain attuned to the needs of developing countries.



In response, Ms. Bachelet praised Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote regional peace and stability and acknowledged its significant contributions to the United Nations over the years.
