ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has initiated Ghazi Week 2026, a series of events dedicated to honoring the Ghazi and brave officers of the force. Scheduled from April 06 to April 12, the week aims to recognize the contributions of officers who have demonstrated exceptional courage in maintaining the city’s peace.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the week-long tribute will include various ceremonies across all divisions of the Islamabad Police. Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi emphasized the pride associated with the Ghazi and brave officers, acknowledging their stories of courage and commitment to public safety.
A central ceremony took place at the Police Lines Headquarters, attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police Headquarters Malik Jameel Zafar as the chief guest. The event featured the hoisting of the national flag, a recitation of the national anthem, and a one-minute silence in honor of the Ghazi officers. Senior officers and police officials were in attendance to pay their respects.
Another ceremony at “Rescue-15” included Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and other senior officers. During these events, it was highlighted that 169 officers have attained the Ghazi status, having been injured while serving in the line of duty. The officers were commended for their fearlessness and dedication, which serve as a source of national pride.
The ceremonies underscored the enduring respect for the families of those who have sacrificed for the country’s peace and the indelible honor their actions have brought to the police force.
