ISLAMABAD: In a significant operation against vehicle theft in the federal capital, the Islamabad Police have apprehended two members of a notorious criminal gang involved in multiple vehicle theft cases. The operation was carried out by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) following directives from the Inspector General of Police Islamabad.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the AVLU police team utilized both technical and human resources to conduct the operation, resulting in the arrest of Shah Nawaz and Mushtaq, who were identified as members of the organized gang with previous criminal records. The police recovered stolen vehicles valued at Rp. 6.7 million, linked to more than six theft cases.

During the initial investigation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in numerous car theft incidents in different areas of Islamabad. The investigation is continuing as authorities seek to uncover more details about the gang’s operations.

SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar emphasized that the Islamabad Police are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of residents, ensuring that no criminal elements disrupt public peace. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to their local police station or the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” to bolster the collaborative efforts between the police and the community in maintaining safety in the city.
