ISLAMABAD: In a significant development aimed at curbing vehicle theft in the federal capital, the Islamabad Police have apprehended two members of a notorious vehicle lifting gang. The arrests were made as part of ongoing operations directed by Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, targeting individuals involved in vehicle and motorcycle theft.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) carried out an operation utilizing both technical and human resources, resulting in the arrest of two individuals identified as Hazrat Ali and Daniyal Amjad. These individuals, who have previous criminal records, were wanted in multiple cases of vehicle and motorcycle theft. The police recovered stolen vehicles and motorcycles linked to more than six cases, amounting to millions of rupees, from the accused.
During the initial investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in several incidents of car and motorcycle theft across various areas in Islamabad. The investigation is currently ongoing to gather further details.
Muhammad Jawad Tariq, the Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad, emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, stating that no criminal elements would be allowed to disturb public peace. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities to their local police station or the emergency helpline “Pucar-15,” to enhance mutual cooperation between the police and the public in creating a crime-free city.
