Islamabad MOU Facilitates Ceasefire Between US and Iran


Islamabad: The signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran marks a significant diplomatic achievement, leading to the extension of a ceasefire agreement between the two nations. Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, hailed the MOU as a landmark breakthrough, attributing the success to Pakistan’s leadership.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the accord was facilitated by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, with contributions from key government figures and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The MOU is seen as a testament to Pakistan’s role as a mediator in international conflict resolution, enhancing its reputation as a trusted global partner.



The memorandum has resulted in the cessation of hostilities and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for international trade. The agreement addresses regional and global challenges by re-establishing trade routes and stabilizing energy markets, thus promoting international stability.



Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq commended the leadership of both the United States and Iran, acknowledging President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, as well as Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf for their roles in the agreement.



The Islamabad MOU is expected to foster long-term peace and economic recovery while reinforcing the efficacy of dialogue and diplomacy in conflict resolution. The involvement of international partners, including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt, was also recognized for their supportive roles in the diplomatic process.
