Raipur: Indian forces have killed sixteen tribal members in a cordon-and-search operation in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, according to a report from the Kashmir Media Service. The victims were reportedly linked to the Communist Party of India (Maoist).
The operation, which began on Friday night, involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard and the Central Reserve Police Force. An officer confirmed the recovery of 16 bodies of suspected Naxals from the area, indicating that the operation is still ongoing.
This incident follows a previous operation on March 20, where Indian forces killed at least 30 tribal individuals associated with the CPI (Maoist) in the Bijapur and Dantewada districts of Chhattisgarh. The ongoing conflict in the region continues to escalate tensions between Indian forces and tribal groups.
