Islamabad: India is being criticized for its record on minority rights by Pakistan, with officials asserting that India is in no position to champion such causes due to its own violations. This statement was made by Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson in response to remarks by India’s External Affairs Minister in the Lok Sabha.
The spokesperson highlighted that Pakistan’s state institutions are committed to safeguarding minority rights as a matter of policy. In contrast, they accused India of allowing incidents targeting minorities to occur frequently, with alleged tacit approval from elements within the ruling party.
The spokesperson further claimed that there is a systematic promotion of hatred, discrimination, and violence against minorities in India, which has been well-documented. He emphasized that India’s record is marked by serious and systemic violations of minority rights, particularly concerning Muslims.
Calling for action, the spokesperson urged the Indian government to focus on addressing these issues within its borders. He suggested that India should take concrete steps to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of its minority populations, including Muslims.
