India Accused of Violating International Laws in Kashmir

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has accused India of continuous violations of international laws in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas claimed that since the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government revoked the region’s special status on August 5, 2019, Kashmiris have been stripped of basic human rights. Minhas emphasized that India’s actions over the past 77 years have kept Kashmiris in a state of deprivation, with thousands of Kashmiri Muslims reportedly killed to maintain control over the territory.

He asserted that these actions align with definitions of human rights violations and war crimes under international law. Minhas highlighted the escalation of crimes against Kashmiris, particularly after the 2019 abrogation of the special status, and accused India of attempting demographic changes in the disputed territory, in defiance of international laws.

Minhas criticized India for allegedly targeting innocent Kashmiris under the pretense of democracy and secularism. He called the situation in Kashmir one of the world’s longstanding disputes, affecting 1.5 billion people in South Asia. Minhas urged the international community to pressure India to resolve the issue in line with United Nations resolutions to ensure regional peace and stability.
