Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has condemned the actions of Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), citing an atmosphere of fear following increased military operations. According to a statement released by the DFP in Srinagar, the party voiced strong opposition to the recent surge in cordon and search operations, nocturnal raids, and the arbitrary arrests of political activists.
The DFP spokesperson, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, highlighted that these measures are perceived as efforts to terrorize and silence those advocating for Kashmir’s self-determination. He emphasized that such attempts would not deter the Kashmiris from their pursuit of self-determination, a cause for which they have long struggled.
Additionally, the DFP expressed grave concerns over the health of its incarcerated chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and other Kashmiri prisoners held in various Indian jails. The party called for the early release of all political prisoners, urging international human rights organizations to intervene and address the situation.
Similarly, the Jammu and Kashmir Young Men’s League (JKYML) issued a statement condemning the intensified military operations conducted by Indian forces along the Srinagar-Jammu highway and in multiple districts, including Srinagar, Kupwara, and Bandipora. The JKYML spokesperson criticized the harassment of civilians, describing it as a deliberate tactic to instill fear in the population.
These assertions from the DFP and JKYML reflect ongoing tensions and the fraught situation in the region, as both groups continue to call for international attention and intervention.
