Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Agha Syed Hassan al-Mosavi al-Safavi, a senior figure of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the IIOJK government’s ongoing inability to protect and promote Muslim interests, despite governing a predominantly Muslim region.
In a statement reported by Kashmir Media Service, Agha Hassan criticized the authorities for underestimating the awareness of the IIOJK populace. He highlighted recent government actions post-election as concerning, citing issues involving Article 370, the Reservation Policy, alcohol regulations, and the Waqf Bill, all of which he claims have failed to support the community.
Agha Hassan pointed to a lack of opposition to the sale of religious institutions, which he believes has been absent from both public discourse and legislative debates. He expressed his disappointment in a regime that claims to uphold religious faith yet neglects its duties at crucial times.
He concluded by remarking that history will remember the leadership’s choice to engage with divisive issues like the alcohol and Waqf Amendment Bill, rather than standing resolutely for Shariyat principles.
